
About Our Church

St. Kuriakose Orthodox Church, Koratty. In 1939, the Reverend Mulavarikkal Paulose Ramban established the Seenai Ashram at Mambra and a parish church in the name of St. Kuriakose the Martyr. In 1946, he was consecrated as Paulose Mar Severios, Metropolitan of the Kochi Diocese. In 1950, the Zion Seminary and chapel were founded at Chirangara.
Our Parish in under the diocese of Kochi. Today, 130 devoted members actively participate in various spiritual movements which includes within this parish, continuing to grow in divine. H.G. Yuhannon Mar Severios led the diocese from 1966, drawing people with his saintly nature and gentleness. Chapel attendance rose, with regular services on Sundays and special occasions.The parish faced challenges after 1975 due to internal church divisions, including restricted access to sacraments and threats to Zion Seminary. Despite this, the community remained loyal and defended the seminary and its rights. Considering these circumstances The diocesan Metropolitan's 1979-80 orders formally designated the Seminary Chapel for parish use, appointing Rev. Father Joseph Arickal as the first vicar, allowing the seminary and parish to function peacefully together.
